New President for 2009-2010

It is official. Chris Cooke is the new President for the Rotary Club of Sarnia Bluewaterland for 2009-2010. He received his gavel and president plaque this morning from outgoing President Ron Snow during our regular meeting. His term starts on July 1st 2009.

Organization for Literacy in Lambton.--

Speaker at our Rotary meeting this morning was Eric Kilbreath, Executive Director for Organization for Literacy in Sarnia-Lambton. Their mission is to insure that all individuals in Lambton County have the opportunity and recources to improve their literacy.

Sarnia's Solar Farm Explained.

Peter Carrie, Canadian vice president of First Solar Canada spoke to our club this morning about the operations of the solar farm located on Blackwell side road in Sarnia. The 300 million dollar project should be completed in the next 2 years and will employ about 200 workers during the construction period. When completed it will be operated by about 2 people. Mr Carrie is seen in this photo during the slide presentation.

Elyse Golian Speak on Rayjohn.

Elyse Golian, president of the Rotary Twin Bridges Interact Club spoke to our Rotarians this morning about her recent trip to the Dominion Republic. She was one of the 26 Rayjohn Share Care of Sarnia members that took part in a 8 day visit helping to improve the quality of life in that country. Elyse is seen here showing slides of the visit. Inbound Brazilian Study Exchange Group Visit.--

Members of the inbound Brazilian Study Exchange Group visited us at our club meeting this week.
